Mark Carney and Business Leaders prioritise equality with the Community Foundations

Mark Carney, the Governor of the Bank of England, prioritised equality with business leaders from across the North West region at a Community Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside hosted meeting today.

 

As the North West’s leading Philanthropy Hub the Community Foundations staged today the private meeting between the Mark Carney and corporately responsible business leaders in Liverpool on the topic of ‘today’s social investment foster’s tomorrow’s economic prosperity’ before Mark Carney delivered his Roscoe Lecture at the BT Convention Centre. 


Cathy Elliott, Chief Executive of the Community Foundations who chaired the meeting said “As economic and political changes take place the role of the Community Foundations is increasingly significant in order to support communities to be prosperous. Our role is about growing stronger communities together across sectors. We were delighted to have the opportunity to bring together those who are committed to communities for a very welcomed discussion with Mark Carney.”

 

The Governor of the Bank of England’s visit to Liverpool today was due to a partnership between the Community Foundations and Liverpool John Moores University Roscoe Lecture Series. Mark Carney is a public supporter of the community foundation Vital Signs initiative both in Canada and the UK which shares community knowledge to guide effective charitable giving.
