Why Transparency in Grant Making Matters to Us

The Community Foundation for Lancashire and Merseyside is dedicated to complete transparency, that’s why we publish all of our grant’s distributed on 360 Giving. Our most recent financial year of April 2024 to March 2025 is now available publicly.

Why 360 Giving?

360 Giving allows grant makers to share their information with anyone, including one another, working together to ensure that the support we provide to the communities and organisations we fund is being distributed as fairly and effectively as we can. It also provides clear insight to grantees, allowing them to understand the funding context of grants we have distributed, and letting them and us make informed decisions around applications.

One major benefit of 360 Giving for our grants team, is the ability to see the grants previously received by a group we are not familiar with, whether it’s a national organisation that has just moved into the area, or a recently established charity that has only just discovered us! If we are able to see they have been trusted and awarded funding by other organisations, then we can develop a better understanding of who they are and what they do.

The data we feed into the system at 360 Giving allows them to collate information around a variety of topics, including specific regional areas, beneficiary groups, issues addressed, and the type of organisation delivering the funding. This means we can continue to address the gaps in provision and distribution by highlighting the areas, groups, and issues that have been underserved.

We use 360 Giving and Grant Nav system, along with the rest of the Community Foundations network across the UK, regularly sharing updates throughout the year on the work that we are doing with complete transparency. Take a look at our data here:
