Halton Foundation – Fund reopens to support local groups with increased grant size
The Halton Foundation Fund is officially open for applications. In response to the increasing challenges faced by residents across Halton, the grant available to community groups has been raised from £1,000 to £1,500.
This funding programme, delivered in partnership with Halton Borough Council, Halton Chamber of Commerce, and Halton & St Helens Voluntary and Community Action (VCA), has been managed by the Community Foundation for Merseyside since 2016. The fund has distributed £75,496 through 169 grants to groups and individuals, benefiting more than 3,400 people across the borough.
About the Halton Foundation
The Halton Foundation was launched in 2016 to build bridges between local businesses, voluntary organisations and statutory partners. Its grant-making arm is funded through several charitable sources, including the historic Knights House Charity (established in 1875), helping to play a key role in improving the lives of Halton residents.

Who Can Apply?
The fund is open to voluntary and community groups operating in Halton, including those supporting:
- People with disabilities
- Foodbanks
- Mental health and wellbeing initiatives
- Debt advice services
- Domestic violence support
- Projects tackling social isolation
- Luncheon clubs and community drop-ins
The fund is now open and will close to applications at 5pm on Monday 8th September. Successful applicants will be notified by mid-November.
