Peter Oliver OBE: Our New President

We are delighted to welcome Peter Oliver OBE, DL as the new President of Community Foundation for Merseyside (CFM).

Peter succeeds Mark Blundell CVO, who, despite his busy schedule, always made time to join our team on visits to funded projects. He took a keen interest in the issues being addressed and valued seeing first-hand the difference that funding had made. We would like to thank Mark for being an advocate for our work.

A proud Merseysider, Peter was born and raised in the county and now lives in Southport. His appointment as our President follows the recent announcement that he has been appointed by His Majesty The King as Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside, taking up the role in December 2025.

Peter brings extensive experience from a career delivering complex digital transformation programmes across the public, private and third sectors, beginning in the NHS in Liverpool. Alongside this, he has held senior voluntary leadership roles in a range of charities, most notably The Scouts.

“CFM plays a vital role in connecting people who want to give back with grassroots organisations making a genuine difference in our communities. I have always believed in the power of collaboration, between communities, charities, businesses and public services, and CFM embodies that approach. I’m looking forward to working with the Board, team and partners to support their mission”

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Peter as our new President. His depth of experience across the public, private and voluntary sectors, combined with his lifelong commitment to Merseyside, makes him an outstanding ambassador for CFM. Peter understands the importance of local knowledge, strong partnerships and long-term thinking, values that sit at the heart of everything we do.”

We look forward to working with Peter as we continue to support communities across Merseyside.
