Our people

I very much enjoy cooking (I recently completed a sourdough bread making course) and wine tasting. To work off the excess of food and drink, I am a keen cyclist and skier, and have also developed a passion for long distance walking. I have completed five UK long distance footpaths in the last 4 years. I am a regular concert goer, particularly at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, but regrettably have no musical talent of my own! I am however an incurable optimist and accordingly have been a season ticket holder at Everton Football Club for over 50 years!

A lapsed cyclist I’ve now largely exchanged two wheels for running shoes.

Together with partner Helen and daughter Caitlin I represent Ramsbottom Running Club in events up to half marathon, although a full marathon is inevitable. Calories are replaced with nice food, wine and a passion for Belgian beer. Testing my Duolingo progress with French holidays, sunshine and culture helps punctuate the work calendar. I’m a frequent fundraiser for Pendleside Hospice and Burnley FC season ticket-holder alongside son Evan. The sooner the 2023/24 season is over the better!

Nature is my sanctuary, whether I’m on a peaceful walk, an adrenaline fuelled challenge, or just relaxing by the shore.

My family have always been my rock, grounding me and offering valuable perspective in everything I do. Though I don’t obsess over gym routines, I prioritise staying active for my overall health and well-being. Contributing to causes close to my heart through volunteering or support brings me great joy. I’m always on the lookout for ways to make a positive difference. Travelling fuels my sense of exploration, nourishing both my curiosity and spirit. My actions are always driven by a constant desire to leave a lasting, meaningful impact.

Outside my professional work as an HR Director, I am passionate about my family, my caravan in Anglesey and my love of all things running (the order depends on what day it is!).

I set up Southport Strollers Running Club in 2018, which is now an all-inclusive England Athletics affiliated club with over 200 members, meeting 3 times a week. I’m proud to have run (mainly slowly) London, Chicago and Berlin marathons, as part of the series of World Major marathon series and excited to take part in the New York marathon in 2024.

Away from work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going out for food and trying new experiences.

I have an interest in crime and psychological thrillers, yes, I know it sounds odd, but I have a fascination with human psyche.  When I find some down time, I enjoy playing escape games online as I find it keeps my mind active.

A self-proclaimed, unofficial taxi driver to two teenage daughters, means my life outside of work is as busy as it is in the office! 

After a brief stint at ‘back to Netball’, I instead invested time in my daughters’ love and talent for the game with both playing weekly all over the North West for super-league pathway teams. They play above their years for Scotland Netball in the U17s and U19s national squads. As a family, it has so far taken us to Tobago for the Commonwealth Youth Games, Belfast, Cardiff and to Gibraltar to compete at Netball Europe. When the time allows, I enjoy Pilates, am at my most competitive playing table tennis and at my happiest outdoors, walking my dog, Bob, the cockerpoo!

I have lived and worked in Merseyside all my life and believe passionately in the people and communities of the area. Over the years my employment has, in one way or the other, been about supporting and helping the area become the best it can be. In addition to the Community Foundation I have been a Trustee of another not for profit organisation in Merseyside delivering a foodbank, debt advise and housing for people leaving care, prison or awaiting decisions in respect of asylum application.

Outside work, I am involved in various philanthropic and community-driven roles, including serving as a Governor at Blackburn College and supporting causes like Nightsafe and Lancashire Mind.

I enjoy playing snooker and pool, and socialising with like-minded individuals. It is an honour to contribute to CFLM’s mission and work alongside others who share a passion for creating positive change.

Being from Liverpool and a family of seafarers, I grew up listening to stories of how my father and uncles had sailed the seven seas.

Their stories were incredible, colourful and quite often hilarious! So, what I enjoy most is exploring the world and for the past ten years I’ve done that with my daughter, Grace.  Our adventures have been many and varied. On this photo in Hawaii, I’m holding her hand in case any sharks appear with a free hand to punch it on the nose. Apologies to any shark lovers!

Outside work I love my holidays in the sunshine, exploring buzzy cities, and regular trips to the west coast of Ireland.

I’m trying to learn to play golf and love a day at the horse-racing, as well as walking Honey, my daughter’s Cavachon. I also enjoy good food, wine, cocktails, dancing, and reading a murder mystery novel or two.

My absolute passion in life is my dogs – I simply adore small dogs. My partner and I currently have two Norfolk Terriers and a rescue long hair Chihuahua. I enjoy going on cruises and camping, and I’m a keen armchair sports fan, especially watching athletics.

I was lucky enough to actually go to Paralympics in London – and was there every single day. I was a bone marrow donor via Anthony Nolan in 2011, and have run the London Marathon for them, which was a real bucket list event.

My interests outside of work mainly include losing to my children at a variety of games…they like to make up their own rules! I like to read about history and have a keen interest in astronomy, including watching programmes and listening to podcasts about all things space.

I am a passionate Liverpool FC fan, and still hanging on for a season ticket – I’m on the waiting list! I also enjoy watching American football, supporting the Buffalo Bills since 1990 and their 4 Superbowl losses in a row…one day they’ll win!

My interests include gigs, tennis, exhibitions, hiking and running, and I take part in 5K races right up to 24-hour endurance events.

I also volunteer with John Moores Foundation, and at my local Park Run when I can. My top destination would be anywhere Scandinavian, my favourite food is Thai, and I’d say I’m most proud of taking a risk and achieving a complete career change from banking to the charity sector.   

I love spending time with my husband, daughter and son.

Having fun with family and going on adventures is one of my favourite things, whether it’s going for a walk, holidays, going down to our local beach in New Brighton, or having one of many movie nights at home with the mattresses on the floor. I enjoy spending time with friends, going to concerts and the theatre and reading a good book. I also love VW campervans and would love to buy one and travel around seeing all the sights especially more of Scotland.

I love spending time with family on day trips, short breaks and holidays or simply playing games, making homemade pizzas, watching Liverpool FC or enjoying film nights at home.

When the opportunity arises, it’s nice to have a date night here and there, to socialise with friends or to go on a little shopping trip! To relax, I enjoy a good book and a nice cup of coffee.

I joined the Community Foundation for Merseyside as an apprentice in 2016.

In my free time outside of work, I like to play five-a-side football, go for bike rides with my friends in the summer, travel, and I have also recently started playing golf. I like spending time with family and friends, which usually consists of going for food and drinks, especially when Liverpool are playing.

Born and bred in Liverpool, I try and appreciate the smaller things in life.

One of my favourite ways to spend time with those I love is over a homemade meal, meaning I’m always trying new recipes to share with friends, followed by an evening playing a mystery game, or Dungeons & Dragons. I also enjoy the occasional treat trip to the theatre a few times a year, seeing popular and independent productions of wonderful shows.

I have three grown up children, three grandchildren and two grand-dogs, under 4 years of age, so I am always kept busy either dog or babysitting. My hobbies include knitting, dressmaking, hand craft making.

I also enjoy walking in the UK countryside, and have almost completed my personal challenge to walk the British Coastline! I’m a keen hiker and amateur photographer, and as a member of Liverpool Ladies Rebels walking club, I get to enjoy both of my interests at the same time.

My passion is to travel, and I enjoy holidays in the sun, relaxing on a sun lounger, and reading a good book with a cocktail, or two, to sip on!

I have two female Border Collie dogs, Kim and Cassie, and I enjoy nothing better than going on long walks with my husband and our dogs. They certainly get you out in all weathers – rain, hail or shine!  I am a lover of all animals; my absolute favourite animal is the Lowland Western Gorilla; Silverbacks are such majestic beasts.
