Celebrating International Youth Day: Talk the Talk Education

This International Youth Day, we’re celebrating the organisations making a difference for young people!

Using £2,445 from the 23 Foundation, Talk the Talk Education CIC has been able to bring back Cooktastic this summer at Litherland Youth & Community Centre.

Food for thought?

The six-week project gives young people the opportunity to develop valuable life skills by learning to cook, while also creating a safe space for honest conversations around life and mental health.

Food prepared during sessions is shared with other young people attending activities at the centre, and surplus food is often taken home to families, helping to ease pressures many households face during the summer holidays.

“I have loved it. I’d never tried cooking before. It’s really made me think about what my strengths are, and how I can use them to be good at anything I put my mind to.”

Since establishing the 23 Foundation in 2009, Jamie Carragher has helped support more than 70,000 young people through sport, education and food provision.

A huge thank you to the 23 Foundation for making Cooktastic possible once again, and to the team at Talk the Talk Education CIC for their dedication to supporting local young people.

Cooktastic is proof that great things happen when young people are given the right ingredients to succeed.
