Liverpool ONE Foundation - Greener Futures Fund

The Greener Futures Fund is a new fund created by Grosvenor, Liverpool ONE and the Community Foundation for Merseyside. The aim of the Greener Futures Fund is to empower Young people in their communities to take local action on climate change.

The fund is part of Grosvenor Property UK’s new £1m+ community investment programme focused on communities & the climate emergency, Greener Futures. Aimed at improving lives in and around the places Grosvenor helps to make and manage, the programme will support training and job opportunities in the green economy, enable community-led climate action and support young people’s access to nature.

What is the focus of the fund:

Environmental social action led by young people that benefits the local environment, and might involve activities such as awareness raising, fundraising and volunteering which also has huge potential to create enjoyable opportunities and develop the skills of young people.

The primary focus is environmental action, though applications that are also able to explain a positive link and outcomes to children and young people’s mental health, will be considered particularly strong.

Examples of the sorts of projects that may be funded:

-        Food growing and food waste prevention projects

-        Reuse/Recycling projects

-        Greening and/or wildlife habitats

-        Education and training projects relating to the local environment

-        Young people led research and awareness projects

-        Sustainable transport schemes such as bike loans

-        Supporting the community to switch to sustainable energy suppliers

-        Digital projects to enhance sustainability e.g. apps/websites that enable behaviour change or increase local awareness of climate action
