Background Information: Jamie Carragher, Liverpool FC’s number 23 set up the 23 Foundation with the Community Foundation for Merseyside in 2009 and established a £1 million endowment fund to support the 23 Foundation’s long-term charitable work in September 2010, with funds raised from his testimonial match and matched government funds. The 23 Foundation seeks to provide the youth of Merseyside with the means to make a difference in society and achieve their full potential by giving them an outlet through sport and education.
What is the focus of the fund: To fundindividuals who are looking to further their sporting career either through coaching and qualifications or via participating in sporting competitions.
How much is available: The maximum grant available is £1,000
Who can apply: Individuals aged up to 25 residing in the Merseyside area, with priority given to individuals from Sefton
Any special criteria: Priority will be given to individuals who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Proof of residence will be required together with a letter of support from the relevant course provider or sporting team

All completed applications are assessed by Community Foundation staff to confirm eligibility. You may be contacted for more information after applying and a decision making panel will make recommendations based on the fund’s criteria and the budget available.
