Beechwood, Ballantyne and Bidston Village Big Local

Our Background

Big Local is a lottery funded project that has made a £1 million investment in Beechwood, Ballantyne & Bidston Village.

Our Big Local mission is to create opportunities for local people to live healthier and happier lives through community cohesion.

If you would like to find out more about the national Big Local programme please visit their website

Beechwood, Ballantyne & Bidston Village Big Local area was chosen by the Local Trust, along with 150 other areas in the UK, to receive a share of the £150 Million pot of money from the National Lottery Community Fund. The Local Trust is responsible for supporting each Big Local Area in achieving their goals with a Partnership of local residents, community and statutory representatives responsible for delivering an investment plan for the local area. The Community Foundations for Lancashire & Merseyside are the Locally Trusted Organisation, supporting the Partnership with management and delivery of their plan.

Big Local puts the local community, and most importantly residents, firmly in the driving seat allowing them to identify local needs, take action and make a lasting, positive difference. Big Local came to Beechwood in 2014 and has made a huge difference to the lives of many people including funding a mental health worker, funding a new soft play in the local Community Centre and funding two apprenticeship schemes in the local area.
