Out in Knowsley with the High Sheriff of Merseyside
Yesterday, the High Sheriff of Merseyside, Hazel Snell, visited two community organisations in Knowsley, and our team joined her to see their work first-hand.
Vibe Knowsley
In Knowsley, over half of neighbourhoods rank among England’s highest for unmet youth need, according to new mapping.
At Vibe Knowsley, young people are making their voices heard. A £1,244 High Sheriffs Trust Award is helping young people from Northwood build trust with the police, learn their rights and gain the confidence to lead the conversation, through their own podcast, Vibin’ wid Vibe. Supported by Vibe UK youth workers, they’ll host podcast episodes on stop and search rights and pathways into policing, with guests from the police and local organisations. The equipment stays with Northwood Youth Club, so the conversations can continue long after the project ends.
Thank you to Helen, Chris and the youth workers for such an energetic welcome!
Home-Start Knowsley
One in five women experience mental health problems during pregnancy or in the first year after birth, according to Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.
At Home-Start Knowsley, a £7,000 grant from the Merseyside Women’s Fund is helping women and girls get timely support. The project will provide one-to-one counselling sessions for women, with perinatal mental health a priority, and extra capacity through supervised student counsellors. Monthly peer-support drop-ins follow, so women can keep connecting after counselling ends.
Thank you to Andrea, Helen and the rest of the team for the warm welcome, and to Hazel for her incredible commitment to women and community.
