Finance Director (Interim)
Tom joined CFLM as Interim Finance Director in May 2019 and had to “hit the ground running” with the preparation of the statutory accounts and the audit process making for a very busy summer and early autumn. With the audit process complete, he has been looking at internal processes to identify and implement improvements, aimed particularly at simplifying investment accounting, and also ways to increase core funding.
Tom is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He trained and qualified as an accountant at Liverpool firm Chadwicks, and spent 21 years in practice, as audit manager before taking on roles as a principal auditor with the Audit Commission and Senior Community Accountant at Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services where he expanded and led the Merseyside-wide Community Accountancy service, serving the voluntary on not-for-profit sector across the county. He has also held senior finance roles within commerce, and he joined CFLM from Bluecoat, Liverpool, where he was Head of Finance.
Away from work he likes to relax climbing and walking in the great outdoors, and keeps himself busy as Officer Commanding at a Merseyside Wing Royal Air Force Air Cadet Squadron.
