I am Finance Director for CFLM, with focus on effective management of investments, delivery of grants to community groups, statutory and management reporting. As a team we are always trying to maximise investment returns and become more efficient, while ensuring community groups receive funding as soon as possible.
I am a more recent addition to the Community Foundations’ team, joining in 2016. My main professional experience is in the commercial sector, but I am also a long standing trustee and volunteer for a community group the North West (Chorlton Good Neighbours).
Since joining CFLM I have led the review of our investment managers, resulting in lower investment management fees and more efficient investment management reporting, completed our first annual accounts to comply with the new financial reporting standard (Charities SORP 2015) and implemented a new IT framework which enables us to work more flexibly.
I am a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and I trained with KPMG in Manchester. After over 8 years with KPMG in the UK and in Wellington New Zealand, I moved to work with Group Financial Reporting at AstraZeneca (FTSE 100). There I was responsible for statutory reporting, budgeting, cash flow reporting and designing and implementing efficiencies in those processes.
I have led audits for a global bank, a chocolate factory, a school in the northwest and more besides. Having left the audit profession, I try to ensure that I am not the standard accountant, drawing upon my experiences in the work place but also in the community.
I sing with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir and have completed four marathons in aid of charities in the north west.
