Applications are open for the first round of funding from the Merseyside Women’s Fund
The Community Foundation for Merseyside is seeking applications to the Merseyside Women’s Fund after its national membership body, UK Community Foundations, secured a record £3.4 million award from the DCMS Tampon Scheme. This is the largest grant awarded to any organisation from this fund.
The Community Foundation for Merseyside has received in excess of £70,000 from this allocation to launch the Merseyside Women’s Fund which ultimately aims to raise £1 million to help support local girls and women.
A key focus for this round will be funding preventative work to reduce the risk of crisis at different life stages. This may be by helping women and girls get into work, raising awareness about health issues, or by creating and developing peer networks.
In welcoming the news, the Community Foundation for Merseyside’s Chief Executive, Rae Brooke said: “The Women’s Fund feeds directly into local charities and grassroots community groups who deal with issues that undermine the quality of life and futures of women in our area”
“This is why we are delighted to announce that the first round of funding from the Merseyside Women’s Fund is now open to support those in need.”
Local grassroots organisations will be able to apply for grants of between £5,000 and £10,000. Anyone who is interested in applying for funding, or who feel they are part of an organisation which may benefit from an award under the scheme, is urged to apply. Applications will be open on 17th September 2018 and close by 5th November 2018.
